Mary E. Wetzel

Mary E. Wetzel, 81, of Ashton, IL passed away on December 13, 2022. Mary was born on October 29, 1941 in Franklin Grove, IL to Maurice and Willa (Smith) Hussey. Mary graduated from Franklin Grove High School class of 1960. Mary married Robert Wetzel on February 24, 1962. She was also a life member of First Presbyterian Church of Franklin Grove, where she was instrumental for many church charity events as well as activities. She enjoyed supporting AFC sports. Mary also enjoyed quilting and making blankets and afghans. She was a farm wife, who loved spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by her husband, Robert; 3 children, Ronald (Jenell) Wetzel of Arlington Heights, IL, Gary A. (Lori) Wetzel of Franklin Grove, IL and Douglas J. (Richard Devine) Wetzel of Beloit, WI; 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Eric, Emily, Aaron and Addison; 1 great grandchild, Parker; 1 brother, Wayne Hussey of Franklin Grove, IL; As well as a special niece, Deb Kehm of Dixon, IL.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William Hussey.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor’s choice of either First Presbyterian Church of Franklin Grove, IL or Parkinson’s Foundation.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 106 S. Walnut St. Franklin Grove, IL 61031. Funeral services will be held next day, Monday, December 19, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the church. Luncheon will follow with a graveside service to take place afterwards at 1:30 P.M. at Ashton Cemetery in Ashton, IL. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home.
