Miranda Anne Pumfrey

Miranda Anne Pumfrey, passed away far too soon, at 29 years old, on March 17, 2021, at University of Chicago Medical Center, after a long illness. She was born on January 6, 1992 in Dixon, Illinois to proud parents, Kathy Kelley and Darrin Pumfrey. Miranda completed her secondary education at AFC and went on to Sauk Valley College where she became an RN. After she was working as a nurse in Sterling, she pressed on to complete her BS RN online, later landing her dream job at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, IL. In December 2020, Miranda became engaged to the love of her life, Zak Oranger; the two lived happily with their various pets in Cortland, Illinois.

Miranda is survived by her parents, Darrin (Tamara Colby) Pumfrey and Kathy Kelley; Both grandmothers, Martha Pumfrey and Fran Kelley; Uncles, Tony and Larry Kelley; Aunts, Michele (Juan) Vela, Danelle (Stephen) Merrell and Deb Bolin; As well as many cousins and great aunts and uncles.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Dick Pumfrey.

The loss of such a productive, young life is multiplied by the number of patients who will not benefit from Miranda’s care. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and contagious laugh, for her perseverance despite difficulty and complex health issues.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to offset medical expenses and to the cause of creating a scholarship for Ashton-Franklin High School in Miranda’s name.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home, 601 Richarson Avenue Ashton, IL 61006. Funeral service will be held next day March 26, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow out to Ashton Cemetery. Luncheon will follow at The Lions Club afterwards.
