Myrna M. Fox, of Leland, IL, passed away November 3, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 20,1933 in Leland, the youngest child of Charles and Forest Raney.
Myrna grew up in rural Leland and later moved to rural Waterman in 1947. She graduated from Waterman High School in 1951. After graduation she worked at Pogue Lumber Company and the drugstore in Waterman, and at J.C. Penney in DeKalb, IL. She married Edward Fox on November, 12, 1955, in Plano, IL, and lived on a farm south of Hinckley, IL, where they raised their family. Myrna always kept busy planting, harvesting and preserving food from her large garden, sewing, baking and taking care of her six children. She loved reading, jigsaw puzzles, playing Scrabble and playing cards, especially Rummy. She was an avid birdwatcher and flower gardener. Myrna was a talented, self-taught cake decorator and made many wedding cakes, birthday cakes and other special occasion cakes. She loved the Sandwich Fair and entered many baked items and decorator cakes throughout the years. After her children were out of school, she worked as a part-time receptionist for a dentist and then for a dermatologist, and retired at age 83. She loved when her children and grandchildren would visit and loved cooking for everyone. She also loved the annual family fishing trips to Twin Bay Resort on the Chippewa Flowage in Hayward, WI.
She is survived by her husband, Ed, and her six children, Jeffrey and Victor Fox of Algonquin, IL, Raymond (Bonnie) Fox of Sandwich, IL, Robert Fox of Waterman, IL, Kathleen Fox of DeKalb, IL, and Kristy (Michael) Heaton of Montgomery, IL. Grandsons Jason Fox, Ryan (Alex) Fox and Nathan Fox, granddaughters Natalie and Ashley Fox, and great granddaughter, Lily Fox.
She is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Forest Raney, brothers Richard, Carroll, Burl, Kenton, Melvin and Eldon, her sisters Arlene Johnson and Vera Raney; sisters-in-law Evelyn, Dorothy, and Elsie, and brother-in-law Wilbur Johnson, nephews Charles Johnson, John Raney, Mike Raney and Mark Raney and her son-in-law Michael Heaton.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 7, from noon until 2 pm at Beverage Family Funeral Home in Sandwich, IL, with prayer service and burial immediately following at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk, IL.
