Pearl Frances Coomer

Pearl F. Coomer passed away peacefully at Rush - Copley Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family on March 18, 2025.

Pearl was born on August 11, 1940, to Orvel and Sarah Moore in Indianapolis, IN. Pearl graduated from Hauser High School in Hope, IN. She attended business college and worked for Como Plastics in Columbus IN. This is where she met her husband. On March 5, 1960, she married Thurman Coomer, they moved to Illinois and Pearl went to work for AT&T until she was laid off. She there went to Hillside Nursing Home and worked there for 21 years. She always showed the residents lots of love and respect. She worked many extra hours when she was needed so everyone would be well cared for. She also loved the outdoors, working in the garden and yard. You would often find her sitting out on the deck. She loved the lord and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Sandwich after her church in Newark closed.

Pearl is survived by her children: Shirley (Steve) Vanjoske of Newark, IL. Michael (Jenell) Coomer of Arizona. Her stepchildren: Barbra (Jim) Holloway of Kentucky, Larry (Claudia) Coomer of Georgia, Daughter in law Ann Coomer of Arizona, Kathy Smith of North Carolina. Her sibling: Bill (Sigurn) Moore of Indianapolis IN, Bob (Wilma) Moore of Avon IN, Martha (Irvin) Mayes of Hope IN, Max (Darlena) Moore of Columbus IN and Joyce (Chuck) Springhorn of Columbus IN. Her Grandchildren Mark (Ashlie) Vanjoske, Becca (Joe) Goins, Madison Rusic and Ariel (Gary) Gallemore and several great and great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband Thurman, her parents Sarah and Orvel Moore, her in laws, Cashius and Jeanie Coomer, granddaughter in law, Jackie Vanjoske, granddaughter, Melissa Cole, also stepchildren; Elizabeth Coselman, Raymond and David Coomer.

Visitation for Pearl will be at Beverage Family Funeral Home 104 Terry St. Sandwich, Il on Tuesday March 25th at 10:30 AM and service to be at 12:30PM. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Church Cemetery in Hope IN, On Thursday March 27, 2025 at 1:30 p.m EST
