Richard “Dick” E. Vogeler Sr.

Richard E. “Dick” Vogeler, Sr., passed away on October 21, 2024. 

He was born on February 29, 1948, to Arland and Sally (Sarver) Vogeler. He grew up and spent most of his life in Ashton, IL. Along with his former wife, Paula Vogeler, they raised their three children Tom, Rich, and Angela there as well. He farmed and worked many years at Funks Seed. Later, he moved to Rockford where he was an owner-operator trucker prior to retirement, and lived with his long-time companion Liz and their dog Pia. Dick enjoyed spending time with friends and family, including his grandchildren Tommie, Emalie, Ethan, Logan and Emily. He loved the outdoors and never passed up an opportunity to go fishing.

Dick is survived by his son, Richard E. Vogeler, Jr. (Dawn Sheidler) of Ashton, daughter Angela Cudmore (Randy Lyon) of St. Charles; grandchildren Thomas J. Vogeler, of Ashton, Emalie Vogeler (Gavin Shearer) of Geneva, Ethan Vogeler of Chicago, Logan Cudmore and Emily Lyon of St. Charles; partner Liz Wawiorko (Rockford) and her family Eve and Rick Steder and their daughters Emily, Sara, ans Jenna of Durand; sister Carolyn (Merle) Meurer of Ashton, nephews Chad (Michelle) and Dean Meurer of Ashton, great-nephew Mitch Meurer of Ashton and great-niece Alli Cole of Rochelle.

He was proceded in death by his parents, son Thomas J. Vogeler, Sr., son-in-law John Cudmore, niece Sheri (Meurer) Cole, nephew-in-law, Jeff Cole, and great-niece Grace Cole.

Visitation will be held on Thursday , October 24, 2024 from 5:00 PM. – 8:00 P.M. at Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home, Ashton, IL. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. with a graveside service to follow at Ashton Cemetery in Ashton, IL.
