Stanley (Buddy/Stash) Bernot

May 10, 1944 — August 23, 2022

Stanley ( Buddy / Stash ) Bernot went to Heaven on August 23, 2022 from his home in Sheridan, IL after battling lung cancer. He was born in Chicago, IL on May 10, 1944. For many years his family lived in the Lemont/Lockport area, then decades ago he moved to Sheridan. After graduating from Lockport Township H. S., he joined the Coast Guard during the Vietnam era as did his Dad during WWII. He put in for service in Nam but was never sent there. He had varied occupations from owner/operator of a disposal business to a mining driller’s assistant to a trucker. Stash enjoyed playing cards and trivia. He enjoyed bird watching and was a member of several nature organizations. Recently he came to know CHRIST as his Savior!

Stash/Buddy is survived by his beloved Jo Ann Meyer; Sister, Sherry A Bernot; Brother, Anthony J. (Maureen) Bernot; Nephews & nieces, Michael A. & Joseph S. Bernot, Amanda & Travis Meyer, Richard & Jamee Hunt, Chip, Bobby, Drew & Danielle Meyer, Michael & Krista Meyer; As well as extended family, Pat Gray, Ida (Boonie) Hunt, Gail Meyer, Jerry (Audrey), Alan (Alicia); Plus numerous cousins, great nephews & nieces.

Preceding Buddy/Stash in death were his grandparents, John & Anne Zimont, Anthony & Mary Bernot; Adopted grandparents, Joseph and Ana Jacobs; His parents, Stanley & Aline Bernot; His brother, William (Billy) E. Bernot; As well as extended family, Frank & Ida Meyer, Cindy Meyer and Frank (Butch) Meyer, Richard (Dick) Hunt.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421.
