Thomas Lee Scheidecker

Thomas Lee Scheidecker passed away April 5^th, 2021 at home with his family at his side. Tom, known to many as Tommy, is joining his father Louie Scheidecker, mother Maude Evelyn (Benson) Scheidecker, older brother Stanley Scheidecker and sister Suzanne Scheidecker Augustine. Tom and his wife Barbara Kay Scheidecker grew up and lived in Sandwich, IL from 1961 to 1992 when they moved to Conyers, GA. Tom and Barb returned to their roots in 2010.

Tom was a proud graduate of the 1956 Class of Sandwich High School. In the years to follow, Tom worked in retail, ran the first area Pizza Hut and stayed connected in the food industry for many years. Tom and Barb ran a senior community home when they moved to Conyers for several years. Eventually he returned to retail and worked with Barb at Ace Hardware. When Tom came back to Sandwich, again he worked with his wife at Art’s. Tom and Barb have always been a team and truly shared their love in the workplace, at home and with their family.

Tom was a member of the Sandwich Lions Club, Sandwich Moose Lodge 1016, the Federated Church and the Sandwich Historical Society. Those who knew him, and many who didn’t, enjoyed the stories and memories he would share of Sandwich. He never made a stranger and always made others “just feel good”, whether with his smile or a story. Oftentimes his family laughed, telling him they felt like they were having a meal with the mayor.

Tom is leaving his wife of 60 years, Barbara Kay (Wright) Scheidecker, sons Doug Scheidecker, his wife Elizabeth, and Marty Scheidecker, his wife Dawn. In addition to his boys, another pride and joy of Tom’s life were his grandchildren, Zachary Allen Scheidecker (Anslie), Mackenzie Scheidecker Serviss (Steve), Alexx Renee Scheidecker and Ethan William Scheidecker. Tom also leaves three great-grandchildren, Ayden, Addie Mae and Maverick.

Family and friends are welcome to his visitation at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry Street Sandwich, Illinois 60548 on April 8, 2021 from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. A private gathering will be held at a later date to release Tom’s ashes at the Scheidecker Bridge in Northville Township. In lieu of flowers, please make donations honoring Tom to the Federated Church. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Beverage Family Funeral Home.
